This picture cracks me up, but is also an excellent depiction of what my days are like lately. Lyla is crawling everywhere, and getting into anything she can reach. She has Evelynn's swim ring in this picture, and was having a ball! Evelynn is usually right be her side, encouraging or discouraging her behavior (usually in the correct direction). They are both growing, maturing, and learning in different ways, and yet, it seems, at the same pace. Being a mom is such a dynamic job, and I would have never thought that before I had kids. It seems each week, maybe even each day, holds something different, new, and challenging. Though it can be difficult and exhausting at times, I wouldn't trade it for buckets of money (though if you have any lying around, I will pay for the shipping & handling, HA!)

Sammy's New Toy!
Mommy had a moment of weakness at the store the other day, and decided that her furry child had been a little left out lately. So...he got a new toy!
A giant pencil! Doesn't he look regal in this one?
He was so excited!
It was actually really hard to take his picture because he wouldn't hold still. Imagine that, Sammy not holding still...
Wild Man!
Lyla's First Sips
Lyla took her first sips this week using a sippy cup. It took her a couple of days, but now she can do it all by herself while sitting in the highchair, or on her lying on her back. Here are a few shots of her first tries!
As I am sure you can imagine, Evelynn was a big helper.
But Sissy picked up the skill pretty fast. Yay for sippy cups!

Memorial Day Weekend
To say the least, we had a very busy Memorial Day weekend! To be honest, we hadn't exactly planned on painting, but on Friday evening, we decided it would be a great way to spend a long weekend. We are not quite finished, but I thought you might want to see what we have been doing.
So, obviously, this is the before photo. We have the hideous yellow'ish green walls, and even worse orangey-red accents. Oh, and the college furniture...but that's for another project.

This is the same photo from above, except Brad has played with the colors in photo-shop. Pretty cool, huh? You'll notice that there are pretend wood floors too, can't wait for that project!
And this is how it actually turned out! Well, we still have a second coat of paint to put on it, but this is pretty much what it looks like. We are wanting to spruce the wood up, change the outlet covers, polyurethane the bookshelves, etc, etc...but the main change has already happened! Now, what to do about the college furniture?!
Oh, and for those of you who are dying to know, the colors are Sherwin Williams Worldly Gray on ceiling, Intelligent Gray on walls, and Porpoise for the accents.
Glimpse of Lyla
We have REALLY good news about Lyla! She is back on her weight curve, and really starting to thickin' up! We went to the doctor on Tuesday, and she weighed 14 lb. 1oz. and was 25 1/4" tall. She also had her 6 month old vaccinations, and did super!
Evelynn has been showing Lyla how all of her toys work, like this phone
. Very fun to watch them play together.

This is Lyla's classic pose. She can't sit up by herself yet, but is quite content with turning on her side like this and playing. We think she is just too excited about moving to sit up and stay stationary!
Speaking of being on the move, Lyla has definitely started crawling now! These pictures were taken a little while ago, and you can see the hilarious tactics she uses for mobility.
Our Visit
Glimpse of Evelynn
Well, to be honest, it has been a busy month! The weather has warmed up big time, and we have been spending a lot more time outside. We also went for a visit to see the grandparents for an extended stay, and have been doing quite a bit of work around the house. So, here's my quick catch up for the blog:
This was a picture taken while we were visiting PaPa Woods. Evelynn still LOVES books, and would love nothing more than to have someone read to her all day long.

She also has a new love. I have been collecting some dress up clothes for quite some time now, and I was beginning to wonder if Evleynn was ever going to really take an interest in playing with them. Well the day has finally come! Here she is wearing an Angel costume that my mom picked up super cheap after Halloween. Evleynn thinks she is a princess though...and I didn't tell her any differently! She wore this dress all day long! You can even see her nightgown that she ditched that morning in the background!
Evelynn still loves being a big sister. She has been helping Lyla learn to crawl, mainly but just being a good motivator!
