Evelynn Update

I snapped some funny pictures of Evelynn yesterday while we were baking a cake for my cake decorating class. If you look closely, you will also see the remnants of her most recent injury. A busted fat lip! Yup! OUCH!
"I like cake, Mommy!"
"Honey, that's actually cake batter."
"Oh, I like batter, Mommy!"

Honestly, this is what I saw when I looked over from pouring the batter into the cake pans!

I still don't know how she got it in her hair!

In other news, Evelynn is doing well. She was under the weather this last week, but rebounded quite quickly. She has been staying busy playing outside, "taking care" of Lyla, and playing with her baby dolls. She also started reading things around the house which has been funny. For instance, she saw the word UP and was able to put the two sounds uh and pa together and figure it out. The next word was AND which she figured it out with the sounds too. Of course, the next word was AWAY (ah-wa-ah-ya), let's just say she didn't get that one! HA!

Lyla Mae Update

Thought it was time for another blogging spurt! Here are some of the latest pictures of Sissy:
Lyla is starting to sit up while supported pretty well on her own now. She also had her first real scoot yesterday. After a lot of rocking on her hands and knees she took a forward dive to get a toy. It is always so much fun to watch kiddos start a little locomotion!

Lyla has also found her sweet little toes! So much fun!

Lyla has been sick for the last week, but starting to feel a little better. She is still pretty congested and has a little runny nose, but she was able to sleep through the night again last night. It is so nice to see her getting back to her old self again!

Lastly, we went to the doctor on Wednesday for a weight check. She weighed in at 12 lb. 3 oz. and lost some percentages on the chart. Of course, I worried until I heard back from her doctor. The good news is that her doctor isn't worried, yet. She will have her six month wellness visit in another month, and we'll go from there. In the meantime I will be increasing the healthy fats in my diet (in order to turn my skin milk into some healthy whole milk for Lyla!) and try to drink even more water! Lyla seems to be very content after her feedings (and I have a good supply), so hopefully I will be able to increase the richness of her diet by changing up some of my eating habits! Prayers would be appreciated!

Can't Resist the Comparison Photos!

We are starting to see different personalities emerge, but can you tell them apart yet? There are definitely differences...look closely!

(the top one is Lyla and the bottom one is Evelynn - did you guess right?)

Evelynn is 2 1/2!

My big girl is SO READY for summer! Ever since the temperatures have risen, she wants to be outside all of the time! She loves to play on "the jungle" (aka the jungle gym), catch bugs, and play with Finley (her two year old friend next door). She has also lost absolutely no interest in her sister so far. Every time Lyla wakes from a nap, Evelynn rushes to her side with squeals of excitement that "Wila's awake! I want to see Wila!" I keep thinking that this is going to get old, but we are going four months strong now. Evelynn mothers her to exhaustion (literally, until Lyla goes back down for a nap). This has its goods and bads, as I am sure you can imagine. Evelynn has also had renewed interest in all things alphabet related. She has always loved letters, but now that she knows the sounds that the letters make (thanks to a lovely DVD by the name of The Letter Factory by Leapfrog!), she talks about her letters nonstop! This has been a lot of fun to watch her grow in her understanding of the world around her. I love to watch her try to read words based on the sounds that the letters make. She never ceases to amaze me!
Chowing our first strawberries of Spring!

My sweet girl! I can't believe how big she is getting!

Evelynn found Brad's glasses on his nightstand and wore them out to the living room. Before I took them away, I had to shoot some pictures. Hilarious!

Doesn't she just look ornery in this one?!

4 months old!

Here are some pictures I recently took of Lyla. Sissy is growing fast, and hitting lots of developmental milestones lately. I always love this time in a baby's life. I feel like I am really getting to know her little personality. She has started sleeping through the night, rolling over very easily (both ways). She prefers to be on her tummy, so rolls over almost immediately when placed on her back (whether to play or sleep). She adores her big sister, and lights up when she plays with her.
Long and lean! Our little Sissy is a cutie patootie!

She is quite the smiley girl too. Lyla will smile at anyone, on cue! She is very social, and pretty much looks like this until she gets tired. However, she had made great strides in getting to sleep lately, and our life has gotten a whole lot easier. She has recently been knocking her binky out of her mouth and going for her fingers. I will have to get a picture of her sucking on her pointer and middle finger like a binky. We think it is pretty cute!

This is how Lyla likes to spend her wake time - on her tummy! Her little activity mat rarely gets used because she rolls off it almost immediately. I should mention that Evelynn rolls her back and forth, trying to "help." I am so thankful that Sissy isn't too sensitive and just goes with the flow.

Lyla's First Cereal

It's hard to believe we are already giving Lyla her first taste of cereal!
Obviously much more interested in Daddy holding the camera than by the yummy cereal.

She is still thrusting her tongue forward for the first part of each feeding, but gets pretty good at what she is doing by the end of each feeding (just once a day at night for right now).

I love the look she has on her face in this picture!

My baby is growing up!
